Along with the Monastic Community of Jerusalem and sharing one and the same liturgical and contemplative vocation, the Apostolic Communities focus more on a missionary, parochial life.
With particularly close ties to the Bishop, the Apostolic Communities are entrusted with a parish - be it rural in the case of Ossun, on the outskirts of the Pyrenee mountains, or urban, like Pistoia in Italy - where they share in the day-to-day joys, hardships and usual tasks: catechism, ministry of sacraments…
Their calling is first and foremost an evangelical one: the brothers and sisters do not have gainful employment outside of the parish they are assigned to. Their lives draw on the monastic sources of silence, adoration and lectio divina (reading of Holy Scripture).
